Walla YMCA is looking for highly motivated, flexible and enthusiastic individuals who can work in a busy environment to fill the following part time positions:

 All positions start at $11/per hour unless otherwise noted.

Welcome Center Representatives: This position is responsible for membership sales and front desk.  Must have good computer skills, be highly attentive to detail, ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing and able to handle multiple priorities in a busy environment.  Ability to model exceptional customer service to all members and guests a must.

Administrative Assistant: Must have excellent customer service and ability to work in a fast paced environment with strong attention to detail.  Confidentiality is essential. Must be computer savvy and proficient in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new computer programs as needed.  Proven successful experience in a similar position.  Position will assist the Executive Director and the Director of Development.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  20 hours per week.  Schedule to be determined.  $14.00 per hour.

Lifeguard Hiring for all shifts:  Morning, daytime, evening and weekends.

  • At least 16 years of age
  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification
  • Reliable, responsible, willing attitude, and mature.
  • Great customer service skills

Swim Lesson InstructorHiring for morning, daytime and evening shifts

  • Should be at least 16 years old
  • Responsible, reliable, mature, willing attitude
  • Great with children of all ages
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Experience preferred, but will train the right person
  • WSI certified a bonus!

Head LifeguardHiring for evening and weekend shifts

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • High School graduate or Senior
  • Experience working as a lifeguard supervisor preferred
  • Excellent customer and team management skills
  • At least 1 year experience working as a lifeguard
  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification
  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor certification a bonus.

After School Coordinator: Responsible for the on-site coordination and supervision of the After School Program for children. Ensures that staff provides a quality after school experience through planning and leading age appropriate activities consistent with the YMCA mission and core values. Position will assist staff with curriculum implementation and or activities depending on the age group.  Plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values.  200 days during the school year at 8 hours per day with a summer break.  $14.50 per hour.

Preschool/After School/Kids Corner – support staff:  Position responsible for providing a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA core values. Assist with recreational and educational activities which support children’s learning and promote self-esteem, parent communication and involvement.

Building Supervisor:  This position is responsible for monitoring and securing the safety of YMCA facilities ensuring members and guests receive exceptional customer service. Position conducts walk-throughs and patrols the facility, resolve conflicts to preserve order and protect property.  May assist in membership duties and respond to member questions and concerns.  Schedule:  3 week nights from 5 pm – 10 pm and Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m. to 4 pm.

Wellness Center: Wellness Center Staff supervise all fitness areas for safety and cleanliness, and assist members in training and appropriate use of fitness equipment.  Schedule:  M/W/F 5-10pm

Personal Trainers:  Provide up to date personal training services with Personal Training certificate preferred.  Personal training pay rate starts at $18.00 per hour for qualified candidate.  Employee training is available.  For more information contact Theresa Osborne, Wellness Center Director, Walla Walla YMCA, 525-8863.

 Maintenance/Custodial:  The YMCA has multiple openings for cleaning staff as well building and grounds maintenance.  We are looking for people who are self-motivated, hardworking and detail oriented.  Shifts and hours to be determined.

 Van Drivers:  Position is 5 days per week M/T/TH/F from 2:00 – 3:30 pm and Wed 1:00 – 2:30.pm.  Must have clean driving record and current insurance coverage.  Ability to drive 14 passenger van.  No special CDL licensing required.

Each position is open until filled.  The YMCA offers individual YMCA membership plus family discount on most programs as a benefit to part time employees.
